HISTORY OF NETCOM
The Christian Science Broadcast and Communications Committee for Northeast Ohio – also known as NETCOM among church members and attendees – was officially founded in 1992 by members of local branch churches with the mission “To share the healing truth of Christian Science through the use of broadcasting publications of The Mother Church” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts). It is a 501(3)c non-profit organization licensed through the State of Ohio.
From 1992 through 2009, we broadcast the Christian Science television program on WUAB, a Cleveland TV station, at 2:30 A.M. ending with an announcement of our 800 telephone number to call for a free copy of Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy which is the textbook of Christian Science. Since the founding through January of 2019, 4218 copies of the book were sent to those requesting it.
At the end of 2009, the television programming was discontinued, and two half-hour radio programs (Sentinel Radio and the Bible Lesson-Sermon) were aired on radio stations WHK, WHLO, WDOK, WCLV and WTAM in various years. Radio broadcasting has now been replaced with Internet Radio which is available on this website.
Our book (a free gift) may still be requested by phone or internet.
