Is Christian Science the same as Scientology?
Christian Science has no association with Scientology. Christian Science is a Christian religion; Scientology is not.
Why is this called a “science”?
Because it articulates God’s provable laws.
What is Christian Science?
The term Christian Science was introduced by Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered this science and eventually founded the Christian Science church. She used the term to “designate the scientific system of divine healing.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, page 123.) This healing is based on the Bible and practiced today in the same way that Christ Jesus healed centuries ago. It is Christian because it is Bible-based and God-centered, and it is scientific because it based on understanding and practicing the divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love.
Is Christian Science a cult?
Absolutely not! The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science told her followers to follow her only so far as she followed Christ.
How did Jesus heal? Were they just miracles or can they be replicated?
Jesus told his disciples to follow him and sent them out to heal. What did he do that he wanted them to follow?
“Jesus beheld in Science* the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appeared to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick.”

Who is Mary Baker Eddy?
She was one of the most well-known women in the world in in her later years in the early 20th century. She woke the world to a realization of the present possibility of the spiritual healing that Jesus taught and sent his disciples to perform. Furthermore, she is remembered for founding a church, a prize-winning international newspaper, healing others, teaching people to heal, and writing the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She was a lifelong student of the Scriptures and a Truth-seeker.
Is Christian Science faith healing?
No, if what is meant by that is “blind, ungrounded faith.” Faith in Christian Science is foundational because it is grounded on the Rock, Christ. It is planted in the power and trustworthiness of God’s law of Love. God, the Father-Mother, created everything in perfection and maintains it that way. “And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31) The first sentence in the Christian Science textbook and companion to the Bible [Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures] is: “The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, — a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love.”
